Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Carpenter Journeyman. This position performs carpentry duties necessary to maintain building structures and finishes in good repair including repairing or installing new walls, partitions, floor tiles, ceiling tiles, and systems furniture. Also included are drywall patching, painting, and adjusting and installing door hardware. Work involves most of the following: planning and laying out of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments, and making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work; and selecting materials necessary for the work. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. This position is 100% travel.
T5 Program Summary: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the Technical Support Services Contract 5 (T5) to Parsons in April 2023. Parsons is the prime contractor. This $1.8+ billion contract has a 4-year base period with two 3-year options. The statement of work includes a variety of activities that support the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan (CIP) and certain reimbursable programs, the FAA NextGen Program, national security programs, and aviation safety. Specifically, work includes site selection and engineering, construction, environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, drafting, contract surveillance, and other technical services as required. Work is performed across the nation in each of the FAA’s nine regions as well as the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey and in several U.S. territories. An average staff of 500 with a peak staff over 650 supports this contract, in addition to those subcontractors who perform construction work.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Support site surveys
- Support on-site installation and facility modification work.
- Build and modify enclosures, supports, panels, and other installation infrastructure.
- Read drawings, layouts, and work instructions to complete field tasks.
- Perform measuring, cutting, fitting, and assembly for system installation support.
- Coordinate with field teams to prepare and adapt installation spaces.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
- Minimum of ten years of carpentry experience required.
- Experience performing carpentry in construction or installation environments.
- Ability to read drawings, sketches, and installation instructions.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
- Ability to fabricate and install assemblies accurately and safely.
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and work in active field settings.
- Must be able to meet customer security requirements. A background check by Federal Authorities will be performed.
