Compensation: The target hiring range is generally $130,000–$155,000, depending on relevant experience, skills, education, internal equity, and business needs. This role is eligible for QED's annual performance-based incentive program with a target opportunity of 15% of base salary, as well as a comprehensive benefits package and 401(k) program.

The Opportunity
The FP&A Manager helps QED Technologies Rochester (QTR) make sound, well-informed financial decisions by leading forecasting, budgeting, long-range planning, and cash flow visibility across the business.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, this individual-contributor role partners closely with senior management and functional leaders to understand business performance, identify trends and opportunities, and translate financial data into clear, actionable insight. You will own the monthly forecasting and annual budgeting processes, maintain a rolling 26-week cash flow forecast, and lead long-range financial planning that supports QTR's strategic objectives. The role also carries responsibility for risk management, insurance programs, and customer letters of credit and bank guarantees.
This is more than a reporting role. The successful candidate will bring strong financial judgment, analytical rigor, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to senior stakeholders. You will be comfortable balancing recurring deadlines with ad hoc analysis, working independently across multiple priorities, and building the models, dashboards, and KPIs that help QTR run its business with confidence.
What You Will Do
Forecasting, budgeting, and planning
- Lead the monthly forecasting process, including revenue, expenses, cash flow, and key operating metrics.
- Own the annual budgeting and planning process, partnering with business leaders to develop realistic, data-driven financial plans.
- Lead the long-range financial planning process, developing multi-year financial models and forecasts that align with the company's strategic objectives, evaluate growth opportunities, and provide senior management with insights to support long-term business decisions.
- Maintain a rolling 26-week cash flow forecast, providing visibility into liquidity, working capital, and near-term cash requirements.
Reporting, analysis, and business partnership
- Prepare and deliver monthly financial reporting packages, including variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior-year performance.
- Analyze financial and operational results to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and drivers of business performance.
- Partner with senior management and functional leaders to translate financial data into actionable insights and support key business decisions.
- Design and develop financial models, analyses, dashboards, and other tools to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Develop ad hoc analyses and scenario modeling to evaluate business opportunities, investments, cost initiatives, and other strategic decisions.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), providing meaningful analysis and recommendations to management.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Accounting, Operations, Sales, and other teams to improve financial visibility, planning, and accountability.
Risk, treasury, and continuous improvement
- Oversee risk management and insurance programs, including identifying and assessing key business risks, maintaining appropriate insurance coverage, coordinating renewals and claims, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate financial and operational exposure.
- Manage customer letters of credit and bank guarantees, ensuring timely issuance, renewal, amendment, tracking, and release, and maintaining appropriate financial security in accordance with customer contracts and company requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve business operations, profitability, cash flow, and overall financial performance.
- Continuously improve FP&A processes, reporting, forecasting methodologies, and financial models to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Communicate financial results and recommendations clearly and effectively to senior management and other stakeholders.

- Business risks are identified early, insurance coverage remains appropriate, and letters of credit and bank guarantees are managed without lapses or compliance issues.
- Cross-functional partners across Accounting, Operations, and Sales view the FP&A function as a trusted, responsive partner in business decisions.
- FP&A processes, models, and reporting continue to improve in efficiency and accuracy over time.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.
- Five or more years of progressive experience in FP&A, financial analysis, corporate finance, or a related field.
- Strong experience with financial forecasting, annual budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear business insights.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with financial reporting, planning, and ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and the relationship between the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Strong business judgment and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to balance attention to detail with a broader understanding of business strategy and operational objectives.
- Ability to manage recurring deadlines while remaining responsive to ad hoc requests.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience partnering with cross-functional teams and influencing business decisions through financial analysis.
- Eagerness to learn and develop treasury expertise, including letters of credit, bank guarantees, and risk and insurance management.
- Experience in a manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated environment.
- Team-oriented, proactive, and comfortable operating as an individual contributor with broad cross-functional visibility.
Work Location
The primary work location for this position is QED's main headquarters in Rochester, NY. Applicants must reside within commuting distance of the Rochester location. Relocation will not be provided for this role.
