Associate Director of Interior Design
Under the supervision of the Director of Design and Space Management, the Associate Director of Interior Design (Associate Director 3) provides managerial oversight and direction for the day-to-day operations of renovation and refurbishment projects; coordinates and oversees the allocation and implementation of space projects; and establishes and implements interior design criteria for the Union, Jersey City, and satellite campuses of Kean University. The Associate Director oversees and coordinates the planning and development of interior design and space planning projects across all campus locations and affiliated work sites, providing project leadership from initial planning and development through implementation and completion.
The Associate Director performs project management responsibilities for assigned projects, establishes project priorities, coordinates internal and external resources, monitors project performance, and addresses issues affecting successful completion; ensures project timelines and budgets are developed, monitored and achieved; and oversees existing-condition evaluations, installation and renovation activities, vendor and contractor performance, and compliance with established design, operational, and project requirements; and performs related work as required.
This position requires travel, including travel to other campus locations and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree; two years of professional experience supervising design, planning, furniture specification and relocation and space allocation; and a driver’s license valid in the State of New Jersey is required. This position also requires the ability to perform tasks that require moderate physical activity, including driving, walking long distances, standing, bending and/or stooping, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills; proficiency with AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit; experience with Microsoft 365 and associated software; and the ability to create space plans, furniture plans and finish schedules.

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Law, the annual salary range for this position is: $95,000 to $110,000. This position may also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, a retirement plan and benefits for work life balance. Employment at Kean requires working at any of our New Jersey campus locations or affiliated work sites, which may include, but not be limited to: the main campus in Union; Kean Ocean in Toms River; Kean Skylands in Jefferson Township; Kean Jersey City; Kean at Brookdale in Middletown Township; Manahawkin; Princeton; and Trenton. Location assignments will be based on operational and university needs. Faculty may also be assigned to teach online classes for Kean Global.
