Business Development Manager, Organics & Biosolids Intake (Remote, NYC to Richmond Corridor)
Make a Real Impact with McGill Environmental Systems
At McGill, our purpose is to rebuild the soils that support life. We turn biodegradable waste into high-quality compost that restores depleted soils and supports a cleaner, greener future. We're in an active growth phase across the Mid-Atlantic, and joining now means growing with us.
Location: This is a remote role. You must live in or near one of these metro areas: New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore/Washington DC, Wilmington DE, or Richmond VA. You'll travel regularly within the territory to visit customers and prospects (travel allowance provided).
Pay: Base plus 10% performance-based incentives.
About the Role
You will own and grow relationships with the municipal, industrial, and wastewater customers who send us biosolids and organic material. This is a consultative, relationship-driven role with long sales cycles. Success comes from earning trust, keeping accounts, and expanding them over time, not from cold calling or high-volume closing. You'll be the primary link between McGill and our customers, and a trusted industry resource.
In your first year, you will:
- Own a portfolio of existing intake accounts and keep them satisfied and growing
- Build new relationships with municipalities, wastewater utilities, haulers, and industrial generators in your territory.

- 1+ year in a customer-facing, account management, or business development role
- Residence in one of the metro areas listed above
- Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills with customers, regulators, and executives
- Willingness to travel regularly throughout the territory
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent industry experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of account management or business development experience, with a record of building and growing long-term customer relationships
- 7+ years in environmental services, waste management, wastewater, recycling, or composting
- Regulatory and technical fluency (RCRA, DOT, OSHA, permitting), or an operations or engineering background
- An established network of municipal, industrial, or utility contacts in the territory
- Experience negotiating contracts, service agreements, and pricing
- Knowledge of transportation logistics and disposal markets
- CRM proficiency; involvement in industry associations or conferences
