We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable Part-Time Janitor to maintain the pristine appearance of our luxury textile showroom in New York City. Because our showroom hosts high-end interior designers, architects, and retail clients, maintaining an immaculate, dust-free environment is critical. The ideal candidate has an eye for detail, respects delicate fabric displays, and takes pride in creating a welcoming space.
Responsibilities
• Showroom Maintenance: Dust, sweep, mop, and vacuum all showroom floors, fabric display racks, and client meeting areas.
• Surface Care: Carefully wipe down glass tables, display fixtures, countertops, and sample desks without disrupting product arrangements.
• Textile & Display Respect: Vacuum high-traffic rug samples and ensure standard dusting methods do not damage delicate fabric hangings or wallcoverings.
• Restroom & Kitchenette Sanitation: Clean, sanitize, and restock supplies in the staff kitchenette and guest restrooms daily.
• Trash Removal: Empty all wastebaskets, recycling bins, and fabric scrap bins, disposing of trash in accordance with NYC commercial waste regulations.
• Detail Cleaning: Regularly clean windowsills, baseboards, and glass entry doors to ensure a flawless first impression.
• Inventory Control: Monitor cleaning supply levels and notify management when items need to be reordered.
Qualifications & Skills
• Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of commercial cleaning or janitorial experience (experience in high-end retail, art galleries, or design showrooms is a major plus).
• Attention to Detail: Ability to spot dust and smudges on high-visibility surfaces and displays.
• Careful Handling: Ability to work around expensive fabric samples, rolls, and design books with caution.
• Reliability: Punctual, trustworthy, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs (e.g., trash bags or heavy fabric sample books) throughout the shift.
• Communication: Basic English communication skills to read product labels and coordinate schedules with showroom managers.
