About Zivtech

Zivtech is a Philadelphia-based technology services firm that designs and builds thoughtful, durable web products. Our clients range from startups to large non-profits to Fortune 500 companies. We work primarily with mission-driven organizations and long-lived platforms where quality, clarity, and maintainability matter.

We’re a distributed engineering team that values autonomy, strong communication, and engineers who take real ownership — not just of code, but of outcomes.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) who can own work end-to-end — from early discovery and estimation through delivery and iteration. This is a senior role with real responsibility: technical leadership, client interaction, and project ownership are core to the job.

You’ll work directly with clients, project managers, designers, and other engineers. You’re expected to lead projects, delegate effectively, make good technical calls, and communicate clearly when things are on track — and especially when they aren’t.

This role also assumes comfort using AI agents as part of a modern engineering workflow.

How We Use AI at Zivtech

We treat AI as a force multiplier, not a shortcut and not a replacement for good engineering judgment.

Senior engineers at Zivtech are expected to use AI tools and agent-based workflows as part of their day-to-day work, including:

First-pass implementation, research, and technical exploration
Accelerating code reviews, documentation, and test generation
Helping break down work into tickets, acceptance criteria, and estimates
Improving consistency across projects through shared prompts, standards, and workflows

We value engineers who know:

When AI output is good enough — and when it needs to be challenged
How to guide AI toward maintainable, secure, and performant solutions
That ownership and accountability still sit firmly with the human

If you already use AI this way — or want to — you’ll fit in well here.

What You’ll Do

Own projects from start to finish — requirements, architecture, implementation, delivery, and post-launch support
Serve as a technical lead and primary engineering contact for clients
Communicate clearly with clients and internal teams, translating business needs into technical decisions
Break down complex work and delegate effectively to other engineers
Use AI agents and AI-assisted workflows to increase leverage and delivery velocity
Support sales, architects, and leadership with discovery, estimates, and technical direction
Work on the critical path to ensure projects ship on time and within scope
Write high-quality front-end and back-end code
Perform code reviews and help set engineering standards
Mentor other engineers through feedback, pairing, and review
Identify technical and delivery risks early — and surface them clearly
Partner with project managers to manage scope, timelines, and budgets

Required Skills and Experience

5+ years building and shipping production web applications
Demonstrated ability to lead projects and own outcomes
Strong full-stack experience — front-end and back-end
Professional experience with React or another modern JavaScript framework
Solid PHP experience, including OOP and common design patterns
Deep experience with Drupal (8/9/10) — custom modules, theming, site building
Experience with Drupal migrations
Strong Git fundamentals and modern development workflows
Experience integrating with external APIs and third-party systems
Comfort with SQL and database-backed applications
Command-line fluency and tools like Drush
Strong communication and listening skills — especially client-facing
Good judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently
Strong attention to detail — applicants should include the phrase “Greetings Zivtech Crew” somewhere in their cover letter or application materials

Nice to Have

Prior experience with AI-assisted or agent-based development workflows
Experience building or maintaining reusable component libraries or design systems
Acquia Drupal certifications
Agency or consulting background
Experience mentoring junior or mid-level engineers

If this sounds like the kind of role where you’d do your best work — owning problems, leading projects, working directly with clients, and using modern tools responsibly — please send us your resume, cover letter, and salary requirements.
