Job Summary:
The General Laborer supports the maintenance, repair, facility upkeep, and operational activities of the organization. This position assists maintenance technicians and facilities personnel with preventative maintenance tasks, equipment repairs, inventory management, workplace organization, and general facility improvements. The General Laborer plays a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment while ensuring tools, equipment, and parts are readily available to support production and facility operations.
Essential Functions:
- Assist maintenance technicians with preventative and corrective maintenance activities on equipment and facility systems.
- Support equipment disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly under supervision.
- Retrieve, organize, and stage tools, parts, and materials required for maintenance projects.
- Assist with installation, relocation, and setup of machinery, equipment, and facility assets.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as lubrication, painting, cleaning, and minor repairs.
- Organize and maintain MRO inventory, including spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
- Receive, stock, label, and distribute maintenance materials and equipment.
- Identify low inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to management.
- Maintain orderly storage areas to ensure efficient retrieval of materials.
- Assist with facility improvement projects, including painting, cleaning, moving equipment, and minor construction-related tasks.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform additional duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, & Capabilities:
- Operate basic hand tools, power tools, pallet jacks, and material handling equipment as authorized.
- Support emergency maintenance activities and department projects as needed.
- Maintain accurate records related to maintenance activities, inventory transactions, and work assignments when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the MRO Department and facility operations.
- Basic understanding of hand and power tools.
- Ability to safely work around industrial equipment and machinery.
- Strong organizational and housekeeping skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with maintenance and production personnel.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn maintenance-related skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Frequently lifting and/or moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Occasionally pushing minimum of 100 lbs. such as equipment/machines/appliances.
- Occasionally climbs up or down ladders.
- Frequently bending at the waist, sitting, kneeling, laying horizontally, climbing, walking, as job may require.
- Visual acuity is required.
Work Environment:
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
- Occasionally subject to temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
- Lubricating fluids, cleaning solvents, batteries, paints and solvents, etc.
- Noise level is usually moderate to high.
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Technical or vocational training is a plus.
Experience:
- At least 1 year’s experience, related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
