ABOUT YOUR ROLE
The Syndications Loan Officer is responsible for managing all revenue generating and sales management aspects of Syndications and Participations in Lending for the Bank's footprint. This role will develop and execute a strategy to drive revenue generation, balance sheet growth, and to achieve the Bank's lending objectives and establish the Bank as a strong deal participant partner and/or leader. This role will establish individual and department goals and objectives and provide the leadership and direction necessary to ensure success. This role will also apply a thorough knowledge of credit policy and underwriting guidelines to build a quality loan portfolio and monitor the loan portfolio to ensure early detection of problem loans. Will include Commercial Real Estate and Commercial and Industrial loan opportunities.
WHAT YOU WILL DO LIST
Develop and execute strategies to achieve the organization's Syndications and Participations Lending objectives and establish the Bank as a strong deal participant partner and/or leader.
Establish relationships with potential syndication and participation partners to maximize opportunities for the Bank's participation. Establish a presence in the market to create reciprocal business opportunities.
Establish routine collaboration and coordination efforts with the Chief CRE Officer to execute on the Bank's strategy to drive revenue generation, balance sheet growth, and to achieve the Bank's lending objectives.
Work with Bank Leadership to understand existing lending participants / syndication partners to expand those relationships and forge close bonds with those who already collaborate with OFB for reciprocal expansion.
Identify viable, risk balanced syndication and participation opportunities and lead the coordination of participant involvement. Thoroughly evaluate and build relationships with potential partners to ensure philosophy of risk management aligns with Bank's philosophy.
Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue generation and balance sheet growth. Apply a thorough knowledge and understanding of the business demographics across the Bank's footprint to identify new business opportunities with potential new partners.
Responsible for sourcing new syndication opportunities through cultivation of referral sources and direct marketing to achieve individual performance goals.
Apply a thorough knowledge of credit policy and underwriting guidelines to build a quality loan portfolio. Maintain adherence to loan policy and credit appetite and Bank's procedures and protocols. Effectively discuss structure of credits to ensure proper underwriting in a purchase. Establish and maintain loan documentation protocol and ensure adherence on all loans.
Provide ongoing monitoring of syndication clients to pro-actively monitor risk changes.
Monitor and evaluate loan portfolio to facilitate early detection of problems. Recommend effective restructure of problem loans to minimize potential loss. Partner with credit and participant/syndicate members to develop and implement an appropriate action plan.
Partner with other lines of business to ensure cross-selling of other bank products and services as applicable.
Allocate resources and assignments to maximize market opportunity.
WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
Thorough understanding of banking regulations and laws governing commercial financing and Syndications and Participations Lending.
Demonstrated ability to develop profitable business relationships.
Demonstrated strategic and tactical planning skills.
Strong skill set to manage both the syndication / participation bank relationships, document management and agreements and have a working knowledge of the underlying transactions to be able to communicate them effectively to OFB and / or our syndication or participation partners.
Thorough knowledge of credit policy and underwriting guidelines to build a quality loan portfolio.
Working knowledge of credit analysis, including identification of exposure and risk in credit and non-credit products.
Extensive sales, negotiation, and relationship management skills
Exceptional communication skills: written -- verbal -- listening.
Travel throughout the bank footprint as required.
Qualifications
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
10+ years' experience in a Commercial Lending environment with proven success in Syndications and/ or Participations including both CRE and C&I Transactions. Prior experience in a leadership capacity strongly preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Business preferred, with concentration in Finance, Business Management, or Marketing preferred.
INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CONTACTS
Extensive external customer, prospect, and referral source contacts.
Internally this position requires regular contact with various departments within all divisions of the Bank, including management.
