At Boll & Branch, customers are at the core of everything we do — and for our People & Culture team, that means putting current and prospective employees at the center of our work. We’re looking for a proactive, resourceful, and detail-oriented Associate Business Partner, Retail to deliver recruiting and HR generalist support to our growing retail store footprint.
In this role, you will balance high-touch recruiting with foundational HR generalist responsibilities. You will own full-cycle recruiting for New Store Openings (NSOs), partner with retail leaders on hiring, manage retail onboarding and employee lifecycle administration, while supporting day-to-day inquiries and ER needs for retail employees. In addition, you’ll lead our Corporate Summer Internship Program. This is an ideal role for an ambitious HR professional who wants to leverage their talent acquisition experience while broadening their HR generalist skills in a fast-paced, growing brand.
This role reports to the Sr. Business Partner, Retail.
What You’ll Do:
Retail Sourcing, Recruiting & Hiring
- Own full-cycle NSO recruiting: Work closely with retail leaders to drive talent acquisition strategy and execution (i.e. build employment brand, source, interview, hire) for all New Store Openings (NSOs) so that stores are fully staffed with high performing talent on-time
- Proactive Talent Sourcing: Ideate and implement creative sourcing tactics and local networking strategies to map, build, and maintain active pipelines of retail talent across all US markets
- Candidate Assessment & Interviewing: Partner directly with Store Managers (SMs) and District Managers (DMs) to help assess and interview candidates for open retail roles, ensuring we maintain our high standards for skill and cultural alignment
- Develop tools, resources and training to equip SMs to effectively recruit and hire high quality talent
Onboarding, Benefits & Market Engagement
- Orientation: Deliver high-touch, engaging orientation and benefits overview sessions for all new retail team members, helping new hires feel welcome as they gain a deeper understanding of Boll & Branch culture
- Onboarding: Manage new hire onboarding logistics, benefits enrollment and inquiries, and employee lifecycle updates (e.g. job / employment status changes) for all retail employees
- Store & Market Connection: Periodically travel to retail stores across the US to gain deep market awareness, evaluate local talent landscapes, and foster strong, trusting connections with store teams.
Employee Relations & Operational HR Support
- Front-Line Employee Relations: Manage and resolve straightforward employee relations inquiries, policy questions, and investigations with support from the Sr. Business Partner, Retail.
- Employee Lifecycle Administration: Work closely with the People & Culture Associate on retail administrative tasks, auditing employee files, tracking job and status changes, and ensuring overall data integrity across HR systems.
- Compliance & Background Checks: Coordinate background check processes via Checkr and ensure daily retail operations comply with local, state, and federal employment laws.
Corporate Summer Internship Program
- Lead the Boll & Branch Corporate Summer Internship Program end-to-end — from recruiting and manager orientation to cohort programming, mid-summer reviews, and final capstone presentations
- Leverage this as an opportunity to build broader exposure and understanding of our business beyond retail
Role Model our Competencies
- Does the Right Thing: Act honesty, fairly and transparently, even when it’s hard. Handle sensitive employee and candidate information with strict confidentiality, speak up early to address mistakes and ensure consistency and fairness in all HR processes.
- Drives Quality Results: Take ownership and follow through on commitments with strong attention to detail. Work autonomously to manage multiple recruiting requisitions and administrative tasks efficiently, using tools (including AI) to elevate work quality, not to shortcut it.
- Relentlessly Relationship Focused: Build trust through care, responsiveness and follow-through across all levels of the organization. Foster strong, collaborative partnerships with retail leaders, candidates, peers, and external partners/networks.
- Adaptable: Step up, stay flexible, and take ownership to move work forward when priorities or hiring timelines shift unexpectedly. Roll up your sleeves whenever the team needs support to keep initiatives moving smoothly.
What You Bring:
- 3+ years of progressive HR experience combining full-cycle recruitment/talent acquisition with foundational HR generalist or coordinator experience, ideally in a multi-unit retail, DTC, luxury, or hospitality environment
- Proven track record of owning full-cycle recruiting and hiring processes, while delivering an exceptional candidate experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage employee relations conversations, facilitate engaging orientation sessions, and navigate benefits administration and HR compliance with sound judgment and empathy
- Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills; comfortable interacting with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders
- Tech-savvy with hands-on proficiency in ATS and HRIS platforms (experience with Rippling, Checkr, and Google Suite is strongly preferred)
- Extremely responsive, optimistic, and organized with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects/tasks while prioritizing objectives
- Strong attention to detail and consistent follow through on projects and tasks; works independently and sees initiatives through to completion
- Ability to travel periodically to our stores
- Must be able to keep information strictly confidential
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in HR or a related field
