Position LocationThis position is located onsite in Wharton, NJ.
Job OverviewThe Construction Superintendent assists the Construction Manager in the daily operations of the
construction department, provides oversight for "jobsite" field administration, and for construction
activities. The duties involve assisting with the start-up and close-out of multiple construction projects,
performing troubleshooting of job-site problems, maintaining jobsite documentation, overseeing project
progress and schedule.
The Construction Superintendent will also act as a liaison with customer Project Managers (PM),
participate in and perform walkouts with necessary sub-contract coordination, assist in verifying that
site specific environmental, health, safety, quality, and security requirements are properly implemented
and assist in developing subcontractor Scopes of Work. This position will assist in the review and
assembling of submittal packages, developing RFls/submittals, developing construction schedules and
ensure adherence to established schedules, along with coordinating all sub-contractor labor and
manage sub-contractor and customer change orders.
Pay Rate: $127,500.00
ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Duties:
- Attend pre-bid and pre-construction site visits.
- Supervises all field construction.
- Participate in RFP review and proposal development.
- Solicits material vendors/suppliers and subcontractors for cost proposals and reviews these proposals for accuracy and completeness IAW project requirements.
- Assists team in source selection for vendors/suppliers/subcontractors.
- Participates in schedule development.
- Coordinates material lead times and deliveries for proper delivery sequencing.
- Updates construction/demolition schedule daily to document work progress/delays.
- Provide answers to technical questions that arise in the field as needed.
- Tracks work site dynamics and activities to include crew size, hours worked, progress, deliveries, etc.
- Communicates with and updates government and military personnel during field visits.
- Oversees or conducts site-specific quality tests.
- Gathers statistical data and specifications to determine present standards.
- Audits, analyzes, and provides evaluation of performance to ensure compliance.
- Audits site-specific quality control documentation and records.
- Implements plans which address QA/QC matters.
- Assists in quality control plan development.
- Ensures adherence to the Chugach Field Safety Program.
- Assists in safety plan development and implementation.
- Maintains jobsite documentation to include: Current Drawings & Specs, RFI log, Submittals and Submittal Log, Issues Log, Redline Drawings, Sign-in Sheet, Visitor Site Orientation.
- Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
- Performs various carpentry and labor tasks as needed including but not limited to: IAQ maintenance (IAQ machines, filters & walk-off mats), Dust Barrier Construction, Ceiling tile placement, Patching/Paint and general jobsite clean-up.
- Performs a wide range of construction activities and other duties as assigned.
Job RequirementsMandatory:
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed, while working in an active construction environment that may include exposure to dust, noise, and typical job site hazards.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ten (10) years of experience on commercial construction projects to include five (S) years of supervisory experience.
- Experience developing construction schedules.
- 30 Hour OSHA safety certification (Current).
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction techniques.
- Strong understanding of commercial/industrial construction plans (all trades), specifications and submittals.
- Knowledge and experience of detailed construction estimating; hands-on experience utilizing RS Means based estimating software.
- High level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Valid U.S. Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
- Willing to travel (CONUS & OCONUS).
Preferred:
- Previous experience on Federal construction projects.
- 40 Hour EM 385 1-1 safety certification (Current).
- Certified Quality Manager (CQM) certification (Current).
- Basic Microsoft Project Experience.
- Knowledge and experience of detailed construction estimating; hands-on experience utilizing RS Means based estimating software.
- Experience using Construction Management software, such as ProCore.
- Skilled trade or engineering experience including licenses or professional certifications.
- Active or past Security Clearance.
