Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer
Description
The QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of software products by developing and executing effective test strategies for Guardian’s Disability Income business. This role requires a strong understanding of both technical testing practices and the business context in which the application operates. By aligning quality assurance efforts with business goals and end-user expectations, the QA Engineer helps ensure that releases are not only functional, but impactful and aligned with real-world usage. This position will have hands-on involvement and requires full knowledge of Scrum and SAFe. You may be asked to provide input on other team members for the performance management process.
You are
A self-starter, continuous learner and experienced QA Engineer who is responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of software products by developing and executing effective test strategies.
You will
- Design and execute plans and test cases for new features, enhancements, and system updates
- Conduct both manual and automated testing to validate software quality
- Build and maintain automated test frameworks and test data strategies
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to define testable requirements and resolve defects
- Identify quality risks and validate key business scenarios
- Analyze test results to generate insights and suggest improvements
- Ensure adherence to QA standards and contribute to process enhancements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of QA/testing experience in Agile or DevOps environments
- Proficiency in automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Postman)
- Familiarity with test management systems (e.g., Jira, TestRail)
- Experience with business applications or consumer platforms
- Understanding of business processes and the impact of technology on customer outcomes
- Experience with Disability Income Products, Processes and Admin systems
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and test integration practices
- Experience with source control and development workflows: Bitbucket, Git
- Familiarity with API architectures including microservice strategy
Location/Travel
- Live within commutable distance to one of the following locations Holmdel, NJ; New York, NY, Bethlehem, PA with work from home flexibility
- Occasional travel to other Guardian offices (0-10%)

$82,770.00 - $135,975.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
