The Allegra School of Music & Arts is seeking a skilled and engaging Private Piano Teacher to join our faculty.
An established student roster is available immediately, with the opportunity to take over part or all of an existing teaching schedule. Allegra provides enrollment, scheduling, billing, and administrative support, allowing instructors to focus primarily on teaching and student development.
For more than 25 years, Allegra has provided high-quality music and performing arts education to students throughout Central New Jersey.

Responsibilities
• Provide individualized private piano instruction
• Develop healthy technique, musicianship, sight-reading, rhythm, and music-reading skills
• Select appropriate repertoire based on each student's level, interests, and goals
• Adapt instruction for different ages, abilities, and learning styles
• Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback
• Prepare students for recitals, auditions, competitions, and examinations when appropriate
• Communicate professionally with students, families, and school leadership
• Maintain a reliable and consistent teaching schedule
Required Qualifications
• Degree in Piano Performance, Piano Pedagogy, Music Education, or a closely related field
• Strong piano technique and musicianship
• Experience teaching private piano lessons
• Knowledge of piano pedagogy and age-appropriate repertoire
• Ability to work effectively with children, teens, and/or adults
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional and dependable approach to teaching
Exceptional candidates without a completed degree may be considered with substantial formal piano training, pedagogical preparation, and demonstrated private-teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree work, formal piano pedagogy training, accompaniment experience, graded examination experience, composition/theory skills, or experience teaching multiple musical styles.
Schedule
Lessons are offered primarily:
Monday–Friday: 3:00–9:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
Instructors are not expected to work every day. We welcome applicants interested in one or two consistent teaching days as well as instructors interested in developing a larger schedule.
Compensation
$30–$38 per teaching hour, based on education, pedagogical training, teaching experience, qualifications, and responsibilities.
Additional compensated opportunities may be available in accompaniment, group instruction, workshops, performances, and special programs.
