JOB PURPOSE: Lead Clinician in Consult Liaison Psychiatry operates as an additional clinical and operational supervisory support for the greater consult liaison non-provider team as well as assisting with clinical and operational supervision for Certified Peer Recovery Specialists and with the Crisis Intervention team. The position works in coordination with site and system managers providing clinical and operational support as well as strategic adherence. The position also provides direct clinical care for patients located on the medical floors in coordination with the psychiatric consult liaison providers; completing initial, follow-up and risk assessments. The position also completes brief therapeutic interventions for patients presenting with associated behavioral health needs. The role assists and completes aftercare linkage in coordination with inpatient social work, care management and nursing. Additionally, the position will collaborate with departmental leadership on quality and performance improvement, clinical training/orientation, and program development.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Provide assistive supervisory support to the Peer Recovery Representative, Consult Liaison non-providers and crisis team when requested in coordination with departmental leadership.
2. Assist in providing clinical guidance and review, chart audits, real-time clinical mitigation and care coordination in conjunction with multidisciplinary teams.
3. Assist departmental leadership in the development and implementation of clinical KPIs, quality initiatives, performance metrics and quality/clinical review meetings.
4. Assist with onboarding, orientating and training of team members as needed.
5. Facilitate team meetings, huddles, and rounding when needed.
6. Complete individual supervision and case reviews with team members and psychiatric providers.
7. Participate in system and departmental regulatory, performance and operational meetings.
8. Complete biopsychosocial assessments for patients, in addition to follow-up assessments, safety planning and risk assessments.
9. Assist and complete required documentation and processes related to the management of patients in need of inpatient and involuntary psychiatric treatment, including all required state and regulatory reporting, metric tracking, coordination with medical social workers, county courts, public defender’s office and involuntary units.
10. Provide psychoeducation, support and intervention when needed for patients and family members.
11. Complete and monitor prior authorizations for admissions.
12. Participate and lead de-escalation and debriefings when needed with patients.
13. Coordinate aftercare linkage and planning with social work, care management and psychiatry, reviewing recommendations with patients and family.
14. Coordinate and collaborate with psychiatric providers regarding clinical findings, disposition and safety planning and diagnoses.
15. Liaison between psychiatry, medicine, nursing and social work regarding care coordination and patient needs.
16. Complete all documentation in the timeframe required by departmental guidelines.
17. Complete all requested administrative projects in the timeframe requested.
Qualifications
Required:
Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field
State of NJ LAC or LSW
1 Year of Crisis or related experience
Preferred:
1. NJ LPC or LCSW
2. Prior Consult Liaison Psychiatry experience
