The Technician is responsible for fixing a vehicle after it’s been damaged. You will perform structural quality, body, frame, and unibody repairs. Assisting the estimator with accurate estimates and minimizing the need for supplements. Understanding the repair vs replacement process is important in the position.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform replacement and repair of bolt-on and weld-on panels in accordance with manufacturer and company standards
- Execute structural and non-structural repairs, including airbag replacement and minor mechanical work as needed
- Meet or exceed company performance standards for technician efficiency, cycle time, and quality to ensure on-time vehicle delivery and low return rates
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with Production Managers and Estimators regarding repair progress, vehicle status, and supplemental needs
- Follow all safety protocols, utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to proper repair procedures and hazardous waste disposal guidelines
- When applicable, test drive vehicles after repairs to verify safe operation, compliance with repair standards, and the quality and effectiveness of completed work.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper tool return and management of parts and materials
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of auto body collision repair experience
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- I-CAR and OEM certifications or training preferred
- High school diploma or GED required; Auto Body Vo-Tech certification strongly preferred
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
- Must supply own tools in good working condition
- Knowledge of and adherence to manufacturer and dealership safety guidelines and standards
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret repair instructions, written estimates, and work orders
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced work environment
