SUMMARY
Develops and manages transportation policies and procedures in support of parts and accessory sales activities. Analyzes and optimizes transportation routes to minimize costs and delivery times utilizing key performance indicators (KPIs). Works closely with Aftersales & Loyalty Team to address and resolve logistical issues associated with, but not limited to, shipment delays and damages. Ensures compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies concerning parts handling.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluates and negotiates, for Subaru of America (SOA), the most cost-effective and time-definite pricing and services for the delivery of parts and accessory shipments to ports, warehouses, independent distributors, and retailers. Represents SOA as the primary operational liaison in order to address and resolve challenges. Maintains responsibility for the contract amendment process, including renegotiating pricing and services.
- Conducts carrier performance and cost analyses to conduct contract negotiations with service providers for all modes of transportation including ocean, air, motor carrier, and small package carriers.
- Develops and manages transportation policies and procedures that support and promote parts and accessory sales activities. Serves as a catalyst for parts and accessories growth and profitability by delivering exceptional customer service. Identifies gaps in current processes and partners with Logistics leadership and other critical stakeholders to bring process changes to fruition.
- Ensures company compliance with parts handling safety regulations, including those for dangerous goods. Keeps current on ever-changing regulations which could affect Subaru’s logistics practices and works with Logistics leadership regarding implementation of process changes and long-term planning. Defines, documents, and maintains standard operating procedures as a result of regulations changes.
- Works with Subaru stakeholders and external partners to assess business needs for the development and oversight of mechanisms with key performance indicators (KPIs), track and trace visibility, and information technology (IT) enhancements. Evaluates budgetary trend analysis to isolate cost drivers and forecast fiscal projections by identifying influencing factors to ensure that transportation operations spend allocation remains aligned with the appropriate Accounting Department funding.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages transportation services for various departments at SOA including Marketing (brochures, auto shows, events), IT (IT equipment), Sales (National Training Conference [NTC], National Business Conference [NBC]), and Service (return of warranty-related items). Determines the most cost-effective option for transporting items and coordinates efforts by using subject knowledge of and relationships with rail, trucking, etc. companies.
- Supports transportation needs of Regional and Zone offices by supporting shipping relationships with organizations such as UPS.
REQUIRED SKILLS & PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of transportation industry including cost and service offerings.
Thorough knowledge of Subaru of America's (SOA's) parts policies and procedures and the ability to clearly communicate those needs to transportation suppliers.
Effective communication with all departments at SOA and all levels of employees.
Ability to work independently while delegating tasks to direct reports.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills with attention to detail.
Dangerous Goods certification, Upon Hire Required
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree required with at least 6-8 years of relevant experience.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Office Location: Camden, NJ apart of the Greater Philadelphia Area (Philly)
Hybrid Role: Hybrid Role - Remote work 2 days per week (after 90 days) [Wednesdays & Fridays]
COMPENSATION: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $105,000 - $120,000 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Additionally, this role is bonus-eligible, with a target bonus percentage that provides an opportunity to earn even more based on your performance. (Internal Job Grade: M1)
