As a Certified Medical Assistant, you'll play an important role in supporting clinical operations, patient intake, infectious disease screening, and treatment services. Working alongside Registered Nurses and prescribing clinicians, you'll help ensure clients receive efficient, safe, and compassionate care.

What You'll Do
The Certified Medical Assistant supports patient intake and clinical workflow at the Trenton site while working strictly within the scope of medical assistant certification and under the direction of Registered Nurses and prescribing clinicians.
Patient Intake & Clinical Support
Your responsibilities may include:
Room clients and obtain vital signs, height, weight, and intake information.
Accurately document clinical information.
Prepare charts and clinical documentation before scheduled visits.
Support clinical throughput as the client caseload expands.
Assist with MOUD visit preparation and other clinical support tasks permitted within your scope of practice.
Schedule follow-up appointments and manage routine clinical communications.
Escalate clinical concerns promptly to the Registered Nurse or prescribing clinician.
Infectious Disease Screening
Support infectious disease screening and testing workflows.
Perform point-of-care testing within CLIA-waived scope and agency protocols.
Assist with specimen collection as permitted by training and scope of practice.
Support screening related to HIV, Hepatitis B and C, sexually transmitted infections, and latent tuberculosis.
Maintain appropriate documentation of testing and clinical activities.
Overdose Prevention & Client Education
Support overdose prevention and response services.
Assist with distribution of naloxone or nalmefene when permitted.
Distribute lock boxes and medication disposal kits.
Provide appropriate client education regarding overdose prevention resources.
Follow agency protocols and clinical direction when supporting these services.
Clinical Environment & Supplies
Maintain clean and organized examination rooms.
Monitor and maintain clinical supply inventory.
Maintain Hepatitis C test kit supplies.
Complete equipment and temperature logs.
Follow infection control procedures.
Follow OSHA bloodborne pathogen requirements.
Follow medication storage and accountability procedures.
Documentation & Confidentiality
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
Prepare clinical records and documentation for scheduled visits.
Protect client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
Communicate clinical concerns promptly to the appropriate healthcare professional.
Participate in required training and professional development activities.

Qualifications
Education & Certification
Required:
Current Medical Assistant certification in good standing through AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT.
Prior outpatient clinical experience.
Current BLS or CPR certification.
Working knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
The following experience or credentials are preferred:
Experience working in an opioid treatment program or substance use disorder treatment setting.
Phlebotomy certification or demonstrated phlebotomy competency.
Experience with HIV, Hepatitis B and C, STI, or latent tuberculosis screening.
Bilingual English/Spanish skills.

The position is primarily performed in an outpatient clinical setting and may involve office and community-based activities as required.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
This position involves:
Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
Frequent standing and walking.
Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
Working in an outpatient clinical environment.
Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases.
Following standard precautions and using required personal protective equipment.
