Registered Nurse (RN) School Nurse
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable Registered Nurse (RN) for a school nursing position at a private school in the Cranford, NJ area.
Pay: $50.00 per hour
This specialized school serves middle school through high school students who may have emotional and behavioral needs. We are looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) who is comfortable working with adolescents in a structured and supportive school environment. This position requires an individual who is calm, professional and compassionate.
This position is expected to begin on November 6th as a temporary school nursing assignment with the potential to develop into a longer-term position.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- 8:00 AM–3:00 PM
- Daytime school hours
- No nights or weekends
- Potential for a longer-term school placement
RN Responsibilities
- Provide routine and as-needed nursing care to students during the school day
- Assess students who become ill or injured and determine appropriate next steps
- Administer medications according to physician orders
- Respond appropriately to medical concerns and emergencies
- Maintain accurate nursing documentation
- Communicate with school personnel, parents/guardians and healthcare providers as appropriate
- Support students with varying medical, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs
- Maintain student privacy and confidentiality
- Work collaboratively with school staff and members of the students’ support team
Qualifications
- Current, New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Strong assessment and communication skills
- Comfortable working independently in a school setting
- Ability to work calmly and professionally with students experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges
- Pediatric, adolescent, behavioral health, psychiatric, school nursing, or special-needs experience is a plus for this role
- Dependable and able to commit to a Monday–Friday school schedule, as the school requires an RN to be on staff during school hours
This position may be an excellent fit for an RN who enjoys working with children and adolescents and is looking for a consistent weekday schedule without nights or weekends. School nursing, pediatric, behavioral health, psychiatric, or adolescent care experience is especially valuable, but we welcome experienced RNs from other clinical backgrounds who are interested in transitioning into school nursing.
