Position Summary
The Lead Director is responsible for defining and executing the product management strategy, transformation roadmap, and delivery governance for Caremark's Prior Authorization (PA) platforms. This leader will partner with senior business, operations, technology, and client stakeholders to translate enterprise strategy into actionable roadmaps, measurable outcomes, and innovative platform capabilities that support regulatory, compliance, line of business, client, and user experience objectives.
This role leads Product Management, Platform Transformation Delivery, and UAT Excellence across Caremark's PA platforms. The successful candidate will lead modernization efforts that advance digital-first experiences, AI-enabled automation, interoperability, and EHR connectivity while improving the experience of members, providers, clients, and colleagues. This leader will drive execution through disciplined planning, governance, and performance management, while building and developing a high-performing team of Product Owners, Product Managers, and Testing Leaders.
What you will do
- Define and evolve the strategic vision, product roadmap, and capability strategy for Caremark's PA platforms in partnership with executive leadership.
- Translate long-term business objectives into actionable quarterly roadmaps with clearly defined business outcomes and success measures.
- Establish and govern a common intake, prioritization, and portfolio management framework that aligns investment decisions with strategic priorities.
- Lead platform modernization initiatives focused on modular architecture, digital-first experiences, AI-enabled automation, interoperability, and EHR connectivity.
- Advance integrated PA capabilities and operating models that create seamless experiences across Caremark's PA platforms for self-service and operational teams.
- Establish and lead a UAT Center of Excellence focused on end-to-end business workflow testing, release readiness, quality governance, and user confidence.
- Drive large-scale transformation programs from concept through implementation, value realization, and adoption.
- Define, measure, and manage executive-level OKRs, KPIs, and business outcome metrics to assess platform performance and investment value.
- Partner across business, operations, technology, compliance, regulatory, and client organizations to drive alignment, prioritization, and execution.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Product Owners, Product Managers, Process Leaders, and Testing Professionals.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Product Management, Platform Management, Business Transformation, Program Delivery, Strategic Consulting, Technology Leadership, or related disciplines.
- 5+ years of experience leading large-scale platform modernization, business transformation, digital transformation, or enterprise change initiatives.
- 5+ years of experience in product management, platform management, roadmap development, strategic planning, or business capability management.
- 5+ years of experience leading, developing, and managing teams, including both people leaders and individual contributors.
- Proven ability to take ambitious, complex, and ambiguous business challenges and convert them into a clear vision, measurable strategy, actionable roadmap, and executable delivery plan.
- Experience establishing product governance, portfolio management, intake prioritization frameworks, and value realization practices.
- Experience establishing and managing executive-level OKRs, KPIs, business outcome measures, and performance management frameworks.
- 3+ years of experience developing AI strategies and leading implementation of AI-enabled capabilities that drive business transformation, workflow automation, operational efficiency, and improved experiences for members, providers, clients, and colleagues.
- Exceptional communication, executive presentation, facilitation, negotiation, and influencing skills with the ability to operate effectively across business, technology, operations, and client management disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior Authorization, Utilization Management, PBM, Health Plan, Clinical Operations, or Healthcare Technology experience.
- Familiarity with EHR vendors, NCPDP script standards, electronic Prior Authorization (ePA), healthcare interoperability standards, APIs, and workflow automation technologies.
- Familiarity with CRM products like Salesforce, PEGA or home grown systems
- Hands-on experience with product management tools, agile delivery, and portfolio management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Miro, Azure DevOps, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Planview, or similar platforms.
Education
- Bachelor's degree preferred/specialized training/relevant professional qualification.
- AI and Product management certifications preferred
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$100,000.00 - $231,540.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
