We are seeking an Associate Marketing Manager to lead event marketing for the American Journal of Managed Care (AJMC) and Managed Healthcare Executive (MHE) brands. Reporting to the Marketing Director, this role owns end-to-end marketing for large annual conferences and drives participant recruitment for small-format, invitation-only events. You will plan and execute integrated campaigns that build awareness, drive registration, and deliver a strong attendee experience for decision-makers at health plans, PBMs, health systems, IDNs, ACOs, academic institutions, community cancer centers, GPOs, and employer groups.
What You'll Do
- Own end-to-end marketing for large annual conferences, from campaign planning through post-event recap, including integrated plans across email, paid digital and search, social, print and digital advertising, direct mail, and marketing partnerships
- Use AI tools to accelerate campaign planning, copy iteration, audience list research, and performance analysis, maintaining quality and brand standards across all deliverables
- Develop and manage event marketing budgets, tracking spend against plan throughout the event lifecycle
- Set up and manage event registration, including registration sites, pricing tiers, promo codes, and confirmation communications
- Plan and execute experiential marketing elements that enhance the on-site attendee experience
- Manage the event app, including content setup, attendee communications, and engagement features
- Manage event marketing vendors, including scoping work, overseeing deliverables, and tracking contracts
- Write copy for marketing collateral and brief creative on assets, routing them for stakeholder approval
- Secure qualified participants for small-format, invitation-only events such as executive forums, roundtables, and stakeholder discussions, building target lists of senior healthcare leaders who fit each event's focus and participant criteria
- Manage outreach, invitations, follow-up, and confirmations to meet participation goals, tracking recruitment progress against targets and flagging gaps early
- Collaborate with project management, business development, events, creative, and professional relations teams to align on goals, timelines, and deliverables
- Track and report weekly on registration, recruitment, and campaign performance to the Marketing Director
- Travel to large annual conferences to support on-site marketing and attendee experience
What Sets You Apart
- 3 or more years of marketing experience with a focus on event or conference marketing, including end-to-end ownership of registration-driven campaigns
- Experience with event registration platforms, event apps, and marketing automation or email platforms
- Proven ability to recruit attendees or participants to meet defined targets, including managing invitation-only outreach for senior healthcare audiences
- Experience managing event budgets and vendors across multiple concurrent events
- Active use of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity to accelerate research, copy development, and campaign analysis in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent writing and cross-functional communication skills
- Ability to travel to annual conferences as needed
- Familiarity with managed care, pharmacy, or health system audiences a plus
AI Capability Expectation
Candidates should be prepared to discuss how they currently use AI in their marketing or event work. This includes:
- Specific tools in active use and how they are applied to campaign planning, copy development, audience research, or registration analysis
- How AI has changed the speed or quality of your work on event marketing deliverables, particularly across concurrent campaigns or tight timelines
- How you maintain brand voice, accuracy, and stakeholder alignment when using AI-assisted content in marketing materials
- Bonus: examples of AI-enhanced event marketing workflows that improved registration outcomes, recruitment efficiency, or post-event reporting
Compensation Range
55,000 - 65,000 per year, depending on qualifications. Eligible for annual company bonus program or commission incentive based on role. Compensation will depend on factors including educational background, skills, and professional experience.
