The Application Engineer supports equipment sales and process design across various industry sectors (e.g., Chemical, Food, or Minerals). This position is responsible for selling Hosokawa equipment for Mixing, Drying, and Agglomeration processes. The incumbent will review customer applications to determine appropriate equipment selection and process design, prepare technical and commercial solutions in the form of quotations, and arrange and participate in customer test trials to validate equipment performance and ensure customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties:
- Identify and qualify sales leads through calls, emails, meetings, and trade shows.
- Review customer specifications and recommend appropriate equipment and process solutions, with particular emphasis on mixing and drying applications, as well as agglomeration.
- Evaluate material characteristics, mixing requirements, moisture removal needs, and processing capacity to support equipment selection and process design.
- Prepare quotations, proposals, and cost estimates using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Coordinate customer trials and testing activities domestically and internationally, including reviewing results to validate mixing and drying performance against customer requirements.
- Maintain CRM records, run sales reports, and analyze market trends.
- Support marketing with sales materials, exhibitions, and promotional activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering.
- 3+yrs of experience working with or selling industrial or process equipment.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical individuals.
- Ability to develop and present solutions to complex issues in a team environment.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to exchange technical information
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering.
- 5+yrs. experience in process equipment sales or applications engineering.
- Familiarity with powder processing, including mixing, drying, and agglomeration processes.
- Knowledge of mixing principles and heat and mass transfer fundamentals relevant to industrial drying applications.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs and understand containment or process safety concepts.
Physical Requirments:
- This position requires periodic domestic and international travel, estimated at 10 -30%, to support projects, customer meetings, or technical site visits.
- Must be able to remain stationary or move about the work area as needed and occasionally handle, position, or transport materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
Salary/Rate Range:
$68,334 - $116,133
Salaries/Rates will vary and may be above or below this rate commensurate with several factors including experience, education, training, location, and merit.
