About the Client

A well-established, family-founded residential plumbing, heating, and air conditioning brand that has served Northern New Jersey for decades and has a loyal customer base and an excellent reputation. The business is part of a national, private equity-backed home-services platform that brings shared services, proven playbooks, and capital to grow.

About the Role

We are hiring a senior operator to lead the next stage of growth at a brand with deep roots in its community. You will partner closely with the existing leadership team, own the growth agenda, and build toward full general management of the business.

The seat carries the scope and expectations of a General Manager: ownership of results, leadership of people, and the operating standard. It also asks for judgment. You will be joining a long-tenured team that built something worth protecting, and earning their trust is part of the job.

Industry background is not required. We care about whether you have owned results and led people who do hard, physical work.

Responsibilities

The growth plan: demand generation, membership growth, close rate, average ticket, and new service lines.
P&L contribution from day one, growing into full P&L ownership: revenue, gross margin, and EBITDA.
Operating rhythm with the leadership team: a clear scorecard, weekly reviews, and follow-through.
Field performance: call booking, dispatch, technician productivity, callbacks, and customer experience.
Technician recruiting, development, and retention in a tight Northern New Jersey labor market.
Installing the platform playbook: deploying proven SOPs and confirming adoption rather than assuming it.

Requirements

Must-Haves

A track record of owning a P&L or running an operation where you were measured on the result, in any industry.
Leadership of frontline teams. You have led crews, technicians, or operators and earned their trust.
The emotional intelligence to step into an established team and lead without bulldozing it.
A growth instinct: you find the lever, pull it, and measure what moved.
Financial fluency: you can read the P&L, find the leak, and close it.
Based in or willing to relocate to Northern New Jersey.

Nice-to-Haves

General management or multi-site experience in home services, field services, or another service business.
Experience joining a founder-built or family-owned business after an acquisition.
Prior military leadership followed by civilian operating experience.
