Description

Wood is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Aftermarket Specialist to join our Process & Technology (Fired Heaters) team in New Jersey. This supplier-facing role focuses on coordinating procurement activities and managing vendor relationships to support the business in the delivery of aftermarket components, spare parts and services. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of purchasing processes, supplier communications, and technical documentation.



Responsibilities
  • Support the Aftermarket Manager in managing supplier-side activities from inquiry through delivery of small to mid-size aftermarket materials.
  • Develop and issue detailed RFQs to approved vendors; evaluate quotations based on cost, lead time, and compliance with technical specifications.
  • Recommend suppliers and prepare purchase orders aligned with RFQs and delivery requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to ensure technical accuracy and feasibility of requested parts.
  • Maintain active communication with suppliers to monitor order status, resolve issues, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Coordinate logistics and prepare all necessary documentation for domestic and international shipments.
  • Liaise with the tax department to assess tax implications for each procurement opportunity.
  • Work with Project Controls to initiate and document new job setups related to aftermarket orders, and assist with invoicing based on the supplier’s POs.
  • Assist with tracking, logging, and other administrative tasks to support departmental operations as needed.
  • Ensure all activities comply with department procedures and contribute to the profitability of the Fired Heater Division.


Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and adapt to department-specific enterprise systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Basic understanding of procurement processes, including RFQs, vendor selection, and PO execution.
  • Experience in industrial or engineering environments preferred.
  • Preferred qualifications include certifications in supply chain management (such as CSCP or similar) or project management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field required.
