Job Title: Staff AccountantJob DescriptionThe staff accountant will initially be responsible for entering ad hoc journal entries during the month-end close, reconciling balance sheet accounts for 1-2 legal entities through Blackline, and reconciling cash accounts including ATM and loose cash. This position involves handling communications with armored services and managing yard communications to ensure accurate daily reconciliations at the facility level.
Responsibilities- Prepare journal entries including payroll, amortization, depreciation, allocations, non-trade accruals, line-of-credit, and banking.
- Ensure account reconciliations are completed for accounting periods without material errors and within established timelines.
- Contribute to department and organization special projects, including understanding the month-end inventory closing process.
- Review and analyze the outstanding check list for outdated and stale checks, and follow up to clear them by contacting the vendor, supplier, or individual for accuracy.
Essential Skills- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or economics.
- Understanding of fundamental accounting concepts, specifically the difference between debits and credits.
- Eager to learn and capable of managing oneself with a proactive attitude, especially when working remotely.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Basic knowledge of the difference between a debit and a credit is mandatory and will be assessed in a technical interview.
Work EnvironmentThe role offers a hybrid schedule after a training period, with 1-2 days in the office and the remaining days remote. You will work with a team comprising a manager of financial accounting and five staff accountants, including one senior accountant. The position provides flexibility in the schedule and security for 12-18 months. Upon permanent hiring, benefits, holiday pay, and vacation time are offered.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jersey City, NJ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
