- The HR Generalist at the Housing Authority of the City of Newark will play a pivotal role in managing and executing various human resources functions to support the organization's operations and its employees. This full-time position requires a professional who can handle multiple HR tasks, provide guidance to staff, and ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Manage the recruitment and selection process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and onboarding new employees.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks, ensuring employees understand and utilize available resources.
- Handle employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to resolve conflicts and maintain a positive work environment.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance employee skills and promote professional development.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR databases, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
- Assist in performance management processes, including conducting evaluations and developing improvement plans.
- Collaborate with department managers to identify staffing needs and develop strategies to address them.
- Support organizational change initiatives and contribute to the development of a culture that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Provide guidance and support for disciplinary actions and terminations, ensuring fair and legal processes are followed.Qualifications: Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Human Resources role, preferably as an HR Generalist.
- Experience working with HRIS systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated experience in handling employee relations, recruitment, and benefits administration.
