Jersey Hired is growing, and we’re looking for a motivated, commercially minded Business Developer to help us introduce more New Jersey employers to a smarter, more local way of recruiting.

Jersey Hired is a New Jersey-focused job board connecting employers with candidates across the Garden State. Rather than trying to be everything to everyone, we focus exclusively on New Jersey, giving businesses a targeted platform to advertise vacancies, strengthen their employer brand and reach people who actually want to work here.

We’re looking for someone who can help us take that message to employers across the state.

The Opportunity

This is a commission-based sales position with flexibility over when and where you work. It could suit an experienced advertising, recruitment, HR technology, media or B2B salesperson looking for an additional income stream, or someone who wants the freedom to build their own book of business without the restrictions of a traditional sales environment.

You’ll be responsible for identifying prospective employers, opening conversations with HR, Talent Acquisition and business leaders, understanding their recruitment challenges, and introducing the Jersey Hired advertising and workforce solutions that make sense for them.

Our products include job advertising, employer branding opportunities, banner advertising, recruitment campaigns and other solutions designed to put New Jersey employers in front of local candidates.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll develop your own pipeline of prospective New Jersey employers, make outbound contact by phone, email and LinkedIn, build relationships with recruitment decision-makers, present Jersey Hired’s advertising solutions, follow opportunities through the sales process and close new business.

We’re particularly interested in someone who understands that good sales is not simply about making as many calls as possible. We want someone who can have credible conversations with employers, understand what they are trying to achieve and demonstrate where a hyper-local recruitment platform can provide value.

You’ll also have the opportunity to develop recurring relationships rather than simply chasing one-off transactions. An employer that hires regularly can become a long-term Jersey Hired client, giving you the potential to build a valuable portfolio of accounts (and recurring income) over time.

Who We’re Looking For

Previous B2B sales experience would be highly advantageous, particularly within recruitment advertising, job boards, staffing, HR technology, digital media, SaaS, advertising or professional services.

More importantly, you should be comfortable prospecting for new business, speaking directly with decision-makers and asking for the sale. You’ll need to be self-motivated and capable of managing your own activity because this isn’t a position where someone will be standing over you asking how many calls you made that morning. What you put in is directly linked to what you will get out of this role.

Knowledge of the New Jersey business community would be a significant advantage, as would an existing network within HR, Talent Acquisition, recruiting or the wider business community.

Compensation

This is a commission-based opportunity rather than a salaried position.

Your earning potential will be directly connected to the business you generate, making this particularly suitable for someone who enjoys the upside and independence of performance-based sales.
