Job Summary: Responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision components according to specifications. Mastercam experience is a big plus! This role requires a combination of technical expertise, attention to detail, and hands-on experience with CNC equipment to ensure the production of high-quality parts efficiently and safely. Key Responsibilities: 1. Lathe and Mill Setup: - Install and set up tooling, fixtures, and workpieces on CNC machines. - Program and adjust machine settings based on blueprints, specifications, and production requirements. - Conduct test runs to ensure proper machine setup and functionality. 2. Operational Tasks: - Operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, milling, turning, and cutting. - Monitor machine operations to detect any malfunctions or deviations from specifications. - Make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency. - Perform regular inspections of finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards. 3. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: - Perform routine maintenance tasks on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as needed. - Troubleshoot machine errors, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime. - Collaborate with maintenance technicians or engineers for complex repairs or upgrades. 4. Quality Assurance: - Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers) to verify conformance to specifications. - Adjust machine settings or tooling to correct discrepancies and ensure product quality. - Document production activities, measurements, and inspections in accordance with quality control procedures. 5. Safety and Compliance: - Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. - Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies. - Participate in safety training programs and continuous improvement initiatives. 6. Team Collaboration: - Coordinate with production team members, engineers, and supervisors to prioritize tasks and meet production schedules. - Communicate effectively with colleagues to exchange information, resolve issues, and optimize workflow processes. Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in CNC machining is preferred. - Proven experience as a CNC machinist set-up/operator in a manufacturing environment. - Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. - Strong knowledge of CNC programming, machine controls, and tooling applications. - Familiarity with measurement tools and quality control techniques. - Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and mechanical aptitude. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment. - Basic computer skills and familiarity with CNC software applications. Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials and equipment (up to 50 pounds). - Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate machinery and perform tasks. - Standing, walking, bending, and stooping for extended periods. - Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and earplugs.
