Temporary Accountant

This position is a temporary accountant to join the Jersey Shore BlueClaws while covering an extended paternity leave.  This role will include managing accounts payable and accounts receivable, preparing bank deposits and issuing checks, generating general ledger entries, reconciling bank accounts and month-end processes.  The employment period will be from April 1st - August 31st.   The work week will consist of 35-40 hours with a flexible schedule.

·       Assistance with general accounting and bookkeeping, maintaining day-to-day accounting processes including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.

·       Prepare financial reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

·       Manage the accounts payable functions which include maintaining vendor files, entering invoices, printing and mailing checks and responding to inquiries from vendors and employees regarding payments.

·       Manage the accounts receivable and billing processes which include making all bank deposits, entering deposits into the general ledger and working with the sponsorship department in processing new contracts.

·       Support month-end close activities, including reconciliations and journal entries.

·       Reconciliation of bank accounts, credit card transactions and monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts and preparing reconciling journal entries.

·       Assist with revenue tracking, game day financial activity, and special projects.

·       Basic understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.

·       Proficient in Excel.

·       Confident in utilizing financial software Sage Business Works or Quick Books.

·       Strong ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

·       Demonstrates integrity, reliability and trust with discretion in handling confidential financial data.
