The Corporate and Workplace Experience pillar includes our Onsite Solutions, Corporate Events and Production and Real Estate teams.
Onsite Solutions and Corporate Events and Production deliver experiences to both our clients and employees globally and include teams such as Hospitality, Transportation and Event Management
Real Estate plans, develops, builds and operates Goldman Sachs facilities in over 60 cities in 23 countries
These businesses are supported by the Corporate Planning and Management’s Finance and Engineering teams, which includes the disciplines of financial accounting and reporting, operations finance, procurement and contracts management and business planning and technology solutions; and the CWS Administration and Communications team, which is responsible for organizational development and internal and client communications.
Reporting to the Americas Head of Events the candidate will partner with the business to develop and lead an event marketing strategy and oversee events and conferences with a keen focus on best practices, commercial excellence, and consistency in delivery. Goldman Sachs events are critical to maintaining the image of the firm and assisting in the development of key client relationships.
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in an event management role with strong project management and team leadership skills and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic organization.
Principal Responsibilities
Core focus: Takes Ownership & Accountability for designated events and conferences:
Partner with senior Business Coverage Manager on the oversight, project management and execution of key events
Understand core goals and objectives of the businesses supported
Identify opportunities for improvement on an ongoing basis
Build relationships and partner with key stakeholders/groups/individuals in division
Team leadership – provide oversight and team leadership for project managers staffed on events or conferences for the business
Event Oversight - understand and lead protocol objectives for each event during both the planning and execution stages ensuring overall success of each event
On-site Execution – travel for onsite support of event delivery as needed
Financial Controls – contribute to the building of an accurate and thorough annual budget and adherence to that budget
Financial Reporting – primary responsibility for weekly approvals, ongoing reporting and data integrity
Vendor procurement and management – includes contract negotiation, management, and adherence to the firm’s vendor management best practices
Brand and messaging strategy – maintain an overall brand strategy using firm resources and event management templates and best practices
Content and presentation guidance – work with client team to provide guidance on agenda building, material design and speaker and presentation idea generation
Acts willingly as a resource to other Business Coverage Managers and team members
Experience / Skills
- 3-4 years of experience in event management in a fast-paced corporate organization
Personal integrity, initiative, leadership qualities, and the ability to work as part of a team in an environment that demands excellence, time and energy
Effective communication skills with proven ability to build and maintain relationships
- Proactive and forward-thinking both pre and post event; follows-up with clients for feedback throughout the event life-cycle and provides team timely updates (on processes/procedures and best practices)
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining high quality standards
Creative thinking and a focus on innovation
Ability to adapt style as the situation requires
Strong negotiating/commercial skills
Ability to develop credibility with clients and vendor teams
Demonstrates gender and cultural sensitivities
