About the role
The Distribution Operations Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day distribution center operations to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate execution across receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, and outbound shipping. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence, team engagement, labor efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and operational KPIs.
The Distribution Operations Manager serves as a people-first leader who develops frontline leaders and hourly associates, supports workforce planning, and drives accountability through performance management and operational discipline.
This role operates within a high-volume warehouse and distribution facility where teams work around moving equipment, dock operations, and fast-paced logistics workflows. Strict adherence to safety standards and operational procedures is required.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Ensure operational goals related to productivity, quality, service, and safety are consistently achieved
Monitor and drive KPIs including OTIF, labor utilization, inventory accuracy, throughput, shrink, and order accuracy
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, coach, and develop Supervisors, Leads, and hourly team members
Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with OSHA, food safety, GMP, HACCP, and company safety standards
Process Improvement
Communication & Collaboration
Partner cross-functionally with Transportation, Production, HR, Safety, Inventory, and Quality teams
Provide clear operational updates, reporting, and escalation management to site leadership
Support a positive employee experience through transparent and proactive communication
Qualifications
2+ years of progressive leadership experience managing teams in distribution, warehouse, logistics, or supply chain operations
Confident leading teams of 15+ employees and executing complex shifts in fast-paced environments
Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control
Working knowledge of OSHA, food safety, and operational compliance standards
Proven ability to lead teams through change and operational growth
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, and operational reporting tools
Ability to analyze operational metrics and drive performance improvements referred
Experience with workforce planning and labor management tools preferred
Bilingual preferred
Requirements
18 years old and legally authorized to work in the US
Able to lift, pull, and push 50 pounds of weight by oneself
Able to stand for extended periods
Able to move around the warehouse floor and interact with various teams daily
Ability to read and comprehend safety policies and operational manuals in English; ability to communicate effectively with team members and follow verbal instructions to ensure a safe and productive work environment
Ability to work flexible schedules, including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
